🔍 Presentation & demonstration of SmartVitiNet’s digital tools supporting precision viticulture🛠️ Live insights into novel monitoring and management technologies for winemakers
Key Insights & Takeaways
✅ Educational gap in digital viticulture: Most winemakers agreed that the knowledge materials provided are highly valuable, especially since there is currently no structured support for navigating digital vineyard technologies in Greece.
✅ Interest in cost-benefit comparisons for drones: Participants highlighted the need for more comparative studies on how drone-based solutions perform economically against existing methods such as tractor-based spraying or traditional pest monitoring.
✅ Strong potential for old vine vineyards: For vineyards with old vines or without trellis systems, drone technologies were seen as particularly advantageous.
✅ Policy-level acknowledgment: A representative from the Ministry of Agriculture noted that the SmartVitiNet Competence Center’s knowledge products could be integrated into future training programs for young farmers or sectoral seminars.
The day confirmed what many already feel: the future of Greek viticulture lies in uniting wine culture with innovation. While tradition remains at the heart of winemaking, digital tools are becoming essential to protect crops, improve efficiency, and support sustainability.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and to all the partners who made this possible. Here’s to innovation that grows, one vine at a time. 🌿🍷
