Final Event LinkedIn Newsletter Cover.png

SmartVitiNet EU project is pleased to announce its Final Event and Demo Day, to be held on 3 October 2025 from 12:30 to 16:00 at the scenic Ktima Gerolemo winery in Omodos, Cyprus, organised by the Cypriot Future Needs. This capstone event marks the culmination of three years of pioneering work reshaping viticulture through innovative, drone-assisted technologies.

Co-funded by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) initiative, SmartVitiNet brings together policymakers, tech providers, researchers, viticulture professionals, and the wider public to showcase how technology, sustainability, and collaboration can redefine the future of wine production.

Pioneering a New Era in Viticulture

SmartVitiNet is a European collaborative project dedicated to modernising viticulture through the integration of drones, smart sensors, and AI-powered decision-support tools. By championing sustainable practices and creating a cross-border network of professionals, SmartVitiNet empowers winegrowers to embrace precision agriculture and spark innovation throughout the sector.

Experience the Technology Firsthand: Drone Demonstrations in the Vineyards

At the heart of the event are the SmartVitiNet Demo Days, where attendees will witness drones and sensor systems in action across real vineyards. These demonstrations will showcase the capabilities of UAVs in:

  • monitoring crop health

  • detecting water stress

  • and supporting precision spraying

Visitors will see firsthand how remote sensing and data-driven viticulture can optimise yield, reduce resource use, and promote sustainability.

Tools for Tomorrow: DSS & Competence Centre

Participants will also be introduced to two major innovations from the project:

  • The SmartVitiNet Decision Support System (DSS): a user-friendly platform that gathers and analyses aerial data using advanced image processing and machine learning algorithms to support real-time vineyard decision-making.

  • The SmartVitiNet Competence Centre for Precision Viticulture: a training and resource hub designed to help viticulture professionals, agronomists, and regional authorities adapt to new technologies and upskill for the smart farming future.

Policy, Practice, and Funding

In addition to demonstrations and showcases, the event will feature a dedicated funding workshop, highlighting ongoing and upcoming EU opportunities for agricultural innovation. It’s a chance to explore synergies, build new partnerships, and continue the journey toward smarter, greener farming systems.
